SPELLBOUND BY PHILANTROPY

To a child barely seven or eight years of age who competes in the San Pablo City Division Spelling Bee Contest, the word PHILANTHROPIST might not be easy to spell out. But if you would ask the child what that particular noun truly means, he can easily give his answer without fluttering an eyelash, for Mrs. Aurea Ticzon–Estiva, the competition’s perennial sponsor since it was launched in 1990 is a living example of the said word that implies benevolent love for humanity by focusing on the quality of life.

Without uncertainty, spelling bee contests encourage students to explore and study the etymology and usage of the English language, to acquire excellence in spelling skills and other educational pursuits and to provide an opportunity to meet and compete with their peers in an atmosphere of fun. However, these stimulating objectives will not be achieved if not for the enormous support given by the people like Mrs. Aurea Ticzon-Estiva.

Though she has led a privileged life in the United States, she has endeavored to step out of her comfort zone into the realm of civic-mindedness and philanthropy as a registered agent of the Seven Lakes Association of Southern California, Los Angeles. Through the years, she continuously gives financial and moral support to the Division of San Pablo City in the annual Division Spelling Bee Competition. Enthralled by the victorious and the beaming smile of triumph in her rousing career, she inspires the students to do their best by motivating them to reach for their biggest aspirations for she truthfully considers that goals are the fuel in the furnace of achievement. Her relentless assistance gives the division the energy and enthusiasm to continue the journey of spelling bee contest in achieving its underlying vision to a much higher perspective.

For sure, Mrs. Aurea Ticzon-Estiva’s altruism will not only delight spelling bee aficionados but will also ignite every single person’s heart to believe that like her, they can also be spellbound by the humanitarian act of philanthropy.
